Shan Cha - Wild Mountain Black Tea from Taiwan
Shan Cha, also known as Wild Mountain Tea, is a long time favorite of ours because of its incredibly unique and scrumptious taste and smell. The aromas of molasses, maple, baking spice, and baked grain are impossibly compelling and the liquor texture is seamless. There really is no other tea quite like this one. It is a perfect afternoon companion or a tea to delight your friends.
Shan Cha is made from a tea varietal indigenous to Taiwan, 'camellia formosenis,' and is one of the mother plants to two famous Taiwanese black tea cultivars, Ruby 18 and Hong Yun 21. It's shrubby, preferring a wild, mountainous landscape and really doesn't take well to commercial planting.
2025 summer harvest, from Yuchi Township.
