This exceptional tea comes from Takahashi Tea, which has been producing organic tea in Oita since 2001. They were the first farm in the region to go completely chemical-free. Now in their second generation, the family specializes in tamaryokucha, a rare tea style that makes up only a small fraction of Japan's production. Tamaryokucha is a steamed Japanese green tea similar in many respects to sencha, but the leaves are left a bit curly instead of needle-like.
